I’m sometimes asked about labeling and products and because proteins have now become recognized, at last, as being useful for weight loss…
Does that mean that when something is labeled ‘high protein’ it’s necessarily good for you?
And the answer is ‘No.’
Even though having plenty of protein in the diet is important and it does help with weight loss, it’s the quality of the protein and also what it’s combined with.
So just having high protein, doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good for you because it can be protein with lots of fat in it as are many of the products that are sold in supermarkets so be very careful with what you buy.
I will be teaching you to read labels in a future module but don’t assume that something is good just because it’s labeled high protein unless you’ve made it yourself, of course.
